The Rising Sun Experience

During the summer solstice, we celebrate the magical moment when the sun reaches its highest point: the shortest night and the longest day of the year. We take a midsummer morning walk in a beautiful, nature-rich location: the dunes and beach of Hoek van Holland, at country estate and art space iCOON!

Worldwide, people pause to reflect on this special transition during the solstice and the equinox. We do the same with The Rising Sun Experience. Together, we walk toward the sunrise and soak up the first sunlight like a triple espresso. By heading out before dawn, we experience a refreshing outdoor experience: a moment to rediscover your own place in the bigger picture. We do this in the most beautiful places close to home. Set your alarm, get moving, and experience this special morning with us. For the summer solstice, Iddo Drevijn of Het Onverharde Pad has designed a site-specific walk around the iCOON country estate. At sunrise, we will trek through the dune landscape and along the beach of Hoek van Holland, following a section of Het Mazenpad. Along the way, we will experience the landscape in a different light and reflect on midsummer: a time of blossoming, abundance, and celebrating life.

When
On Sunday, June 21 at 03:30, we will meet, just as night slowly gives way to dawn. From that moment, our shared journey to the solstice begins.

Where
We will gather at iCOON Hoek van Holland and walk through the landscape from there. At 05:23, the special moment arrives when the sun rises. Afterwards, we will conclude the morning with coffee or tea and a treat at iCOON.
